Bamber Wallis has been creating and making water feature since 1989 when he was at studying St Martins School of Art for his BA in Fine Art. For his final degree show in 1991 he exhibited five separate water sculptures, one of which was his trademark vortex water cylinder.
Water, a fascinating material that can transform from liquid to ice or steam has held Bamber’s interest for over twenty years. Every project brings new challenges on how best to manipulate this mercurial material and how to successfully combine it with the plethora of other materials that Bamber works with which includes stainless steel, glass, stone, clear acrylic, GRP, slate and copper.
Each design explores the qualities of water and how it ripples, pours, splashes and reflects (not only objects but light) in order to evoke exactly the right atmosphere and effect for each particular scheme.
Apart from the many private, corporate and residential schemes he has also been involved in numerous gardens at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show where his attention to detail and professionalism has been rewarded with many gardens winning Gold Medal and Best in Show.
Bamber offers a fully comprehensive, bespoke service and he is involved in every aspect of the design and build. Typically, Bamber’s initial meeting with the client will be followed by a presentation of sketches and ideas. Once these are approved Bamber submits a quotation covering both the design and build elements of the project after which he will submit detailed technical drawings. These technical drawings are used extensively on site for executing all aspects the construction work and for liaising with others such as architects, contractors, garden designers stone masons and other professionals.
Bamber also offers a maintenance service for water features as well as restoration or refurbishment of existing water features.
