The inspiration for this rill comes from the hard sand ripples that are left on the beach once the tide has receded. A plaster mould was taken of the sand at Holkham beach and once back in the studio a repeat cast was taken to act as the base for the long rill. The undulations in base mimic the way in which the incoming tide flows over the hard sand furrows, the result is a pleasing and gentle wave effect.
